Limescale
In a dissolved form, limescale and corrosion as well as other salts can be found in almost any water.
This is often found in the seawater evaporators, fresh water generators and heat exchangers on board. For every 6mm of limescale build-up, 40% more energy is used.
Corrosion
Rust or Iron oxide is often found in steel or iron pipework, or system with iron components.
This leads to poor water quality, high maintenance costs, or premature failure of equipment.
Legionella
Water suppliers provide water, free of microbiological contamination, however press reports indicate that Legionella is being identified and organisations are at risk of contamination.
Algae & Marine growth
Premature failure of critical equipment like fresh water generators, cooling systems, RO’s and firefighting systems is generally caused by marine growth, algae and bacteria in seawater.
